Ezmirelda's Last Day!

Mrs. Hoffman's class was sad today as we said goodby to one of our dear friends, Ezmirelda.  She is moving to Colorado Springs, CO.  We had a going away party for her at the end of the day.  We gave her a CIS t-shirt with all of our names written on the back.  We will miss her!

Thanksgiving Tea

Monday the third graders finished their Manners Unit by displaying their excellent manners at a formal tea.  The students were dressed in their finest and showed wonderful deportment during the tea.  A big thanks goes out to all the parents who supplied food, helped set up, served the students, and helped with cleanup.  The students had a great time and enjoyed great food!

November Program

Last Tuesday, the third and fourth graders put on a wonderful fall program.  The students did an excellent job reciting their lines and singing the songs.  They were joined by Mr. Cogdill who sang with them on their Cranberries song.  What an awesome job everyone did!

Health and Fitness Day

On Wednesday the third grade classes from the Intermediate school loaded onto the bus and headed to Chadron State College PAC center for a day of learning about healthy nutrition and staying fit.  We had a blast as we learned about portion control, reading food labels, what to have on a healthy food plate, how to choose a healthy snack, and the importance of washing our hands.  Then we ate a yummy healthy lunch of roast beef sandwiches, carrots, juice, and granola bars.  The afternoon was spent learning the importance of physical fitness.  We did some awesome activities and had lots of fun.  We also met some neat college students!  We want to go back again!
Thank you to Ms. Brammer and her college students and to Janelle Hansen, as well as all the other people and organizations that made it possible for us to enjoy the day!  We really appreciate what you did for us!  Thanks again!

Cookie Pizza

Mrs. Hoffman's class came in second in the Pizza Hut Coins for Children challenge.  We raised $76.68 in our classroom which is a pretty good accomplishment!  We didn't get the pizza party but Mrs. Hoffman felt we earned a pizza cookie.  We had chocolate chip pizzas we all shared.

Herding Cats!

Today we finished one of our Halloween art activities.  We have been working on black cats this week. Mrs. Hoffman's husband cut out wooden shapes and then we painted them, sanded them, put eyes on and tied on the raffia for its whiskers.  We had a lot of fun making our black cats.  Most of them have names already.  We finished just in tome for Halloween!!

Abigail's Hat

Abby brought a special hat to school yesterday.  She and her mom had made a witch hat from Rice Krispies and an ice cream cone.  It was frosted with yummy fudge frosting!  We really hated to cut into it but we couldn't resist eating it!  It was great!  Thanks Abby!

More rocket math whiz kids!

Three more students in Mrs. Hoffman's class have completed their addition Rocket math!  Congratulations to Ezmirelda, Gabby, and Holliann!  They will begin the subtraction Rocket Math now.  Great job guys!!!!

Apple Head Dolls

Earlier this fall the students in Mrs. Hoffman's class carved a face into an apple.  We added google eyes and let them dry for several weeks.  We watched as they shrunk in size and developed into little old men and women.  Today we added hair and hats and designed clothes for our "dolls" so we could turn them into old farmers and witches.  We had a blast with our apple heads!

Mrs. Hoffman's Pumpkin patch

Friday was an early out day so Mrs. Hoffman's class did art instead of math.  Each student brought a roll of toilet paper which we turned into a pumpkin.  We had a lot of fun creating our clever little pumpkins.
