Herding Cats!

Today we finished one of our Halloween art activities.  We have been working on black cats this week. Mrs. Hoffman's husband cut out wooden shapes and then we painted them, sanded them, put eyes on and tied on the raffia for its whiskers.  We had a lot of fun making our black cats.  Most of them have names already.  We finished just in tome for Halloween!!

Abigail's Hat

Abby brought a special hat to school yesterday.  She and her mom had made a witch hat from Rice Krispies and an ice cream cone.  It was frosted with yummy fudge frosting!  We really hated to cut into it but we couldn't resist eating it!  It was great!  Thanks Abby!

Three more students in Mrs. Hoffman's class have completed their addition Rocket math!  Congratulations to Ezmirelda, Gabby, and Holliann!  They will begin the subtraction Rocket Math now.  Great job guys!!!!

Apple Head Dolls

Earlier this fall the students in Mrs. Hoffman's class carved a face into an apple.  We added google eyes and let them dry for several weeks.  We watched as they shrunk in size and developed into little old men and women.  Today we added hair and hats and designed clothes for our "dolls" so we could turn them into old farmers and witches.  We had a blast with our apple heads!

Mrs. Hoffman's Pumpkin patch

Friday was an early out day so Mrs. Hoffman's class did art instead of math.  Each student brought a roll of toilet paper which we turned into a pumpkin.  We had a lot of fun creating our clever little pumpkins.

Fire Department Visits the School

Tuesday, Chadron Intermediate School hosted some pretty special people.  The Chadron Volunteer Fire Department stopped to talk to our students about fire safety.  The students were allowed to step into the ambulance, look at the tools and equipment found on the trucks, and watch as firemen dressed in their gear.  They listened as the firemen discussed many safety issues.  The students were also given fire safety poster to color for a competition!  Thanks Chadron Volunteer Fire Department for a great experience!
